Don't buy someone else's problem. This is the field checklist our technicians use for pre-purchase inspections — take it with you and never guess again.
- PART 1 — The Interview: 8 questions to ask before you even drive there (salt history, oil changes, pump rebuilds, Sea-Doo supercharger and carbon ring). Bad answers = don't go.
- PART 2 — The Driveway Inspection: hull and fiberglass, engine bay cleanliness and rust check, the critical milky-oil test (water in engine = walk away), impeller, wear ring gap, driveshaft, carbon ring condition
- PART 3 — The Water Test: non-negotiable. Start-up, idle, acceleration, top-RPM health check, vibration, and the post-ride leak check
- Final verdict scorecard: GREEN LIGHT (buy it), YELLOW LIGHT (negotiate), RED LIGHT (walk away)
Plus the "new-to-you reset service" — what to do immediately after buying any used ski.

You hit the start button and get a click, a whirr, or silence. Before you assume a costly repair, run the exact 4-step baseline our shop uses to diagnose 90% of no-start problems:
1. Battery — the #1 culprit. Wiggle test, corrosion check, and the 12.6V multimeter rule
2. Lanyard/key — seating, wrong-key issues, and D.E.S.S. key cleaning (Sea-Doo)
3. Fuel — don't trust the gauge; the smell test for varnished winter gas
4. Oil — the "milky/chocolate milkshake" check. If you see it, STOP — this saves engines
Plus: what your specific sound means (click = solenoid, whirr = starter, crank-no-catch = plugs) so you know what to tell a mechanic — or what to fix yourself.
Salt isn't dirt — it's a slow-motion chemical attack on your engine, electronics, and metal. This is the 4-step "flush & protect" routine Odyssea Jet and Prop Shop teaches every saltwater rider. Do it after EVERY ride and you'll spend less on repairs and more time on the water.
- Precision flush: engine-on-first order, Sea-Doo 60-second max, Yamaha/Kawasaki 2 minutes, plus the Salt-Away pro move
- Wash & neutralize: the right soap (and why dish soap ruins your finish), killing the salt film on gelcoat and trailer
- Ventilate & dry: why covering a hot, wet engine bay creates a "salt-air sauna" that fries electronics — and the busy-owner workaround
- The CRC 6-56 shield: the sacrificial barrier we spray on every machine that leaves our bay
Three pages. Fifteen minutes per ride. Thousands saved in corrosion repairs.
Don't launch blind. This is the exact 11-point technical protocol and safety audit Odyssea Jet and Prop Shop runs on every ski before it touches salt water.
- Battery load test — catch the "zombie battery" before it strands you at the sandbar
- Fluid audit: oil clarity, Sea-Doo coolant level, what low levels are telling you
- The hose rule + Sea-Doo 60-second rule (run it wrong and you can melt the carbon seal)
- Carbon ring visual inspection — the black-soot check that prevents a sinking
- Steering, reverse/iBR gate, and fault-code scan
- The CRC 6-56 corrosion shield we spray on every machine
- Coast Guard safety audit: PFDs, whistle, fire extinguisher, anchor line
- The #1 ramp mistake: drain plugs and lanyard check
- Trailer road-ready check: tires, bearings, lights
The first start should happen in your driveway, not at a crowded ramp. This guide makes sure of it — and includes a companion video walkthrough link.
Winterize your 4-stroke jet ski the right way — from a shop that does this every single day.
This 7-page step-by-step guide from Odyssea Jet and Prop Shop (Ocean Pines, MD) walks you through the complete off-season winterization for Yamaha, Sea-Doo, and Kawasaki 4-stroke PWCs:
- Fuel system: stabilizer, fill level, circulating treated fuel (including Sea-Doo's 60-second hose rule)
- Engine oil & filter change, and why old oil can't sit all winter
- Cooling system flush and purge — open-loop and closed-loop (Sea-Doo) covered
- Fogging the cylinders to stop internal corrosion
- Battery removal, cleaning, and smart-tender storage
- Final wash, wax, and storage
Includes a printable checklist so you can track every step in the garage, plus a companion video walkthrough link — watch the job done step-by-step.

Is your Sea-Doo cavitating, feeling "slippy" on takeoff, bouncing off the rev limiter, or losing top-end speed? A worn-out jet pump is the likely culprit. Mail us your pump and our technicians will rebuild it to factory spec — no weeks-long dealership wait. (4-stroke Sea-Doo models only.)

How it works — 3 simple steps:
Step 1: Purchase this service and provide your Sea-Doo year, make, and model in the checkout form.
Step 2: Package your pump securely and ship it to our shop with your order info.
Step 3: We rebuild it — typical turnaround is 3–5 business days once it arrives — and ship it back ready to bolt on. You'll receive a return-shipping invoice before it heads home.
